An International Space Station school contact has been planned Monday 16 December with participants at Istituto Tecnico Industriale "Galileo Ferraris", San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 15.21 UTC, which is 17.21 CEWT.

This will be a direct radio contact between IR0ISS (Michael S. Hopkins KF5LJG) and IQ5GX. The contact is expected to be conducted in English.

The contact will probably be broadcast on livestream video server

signori nel pomeriggio ho assistito al passaggio della iss ad ora prefissata e direzione, premetto che abito in sicilia sui monti nebrodi, ma proprio mentre passava la iss lateralmente in direzione sud-sud-ovest si incrociava sulla sinistra sempre dalla mia posizione in coordinate direzione est un'altra stazione in movimento!!!!!!!!!!!1 sapete se vi sono altrei passaggi o incroci con altre stazioni, moduli, satelliti visibili o altro??????no perchè un po di dubbi mi son venuti!!!!!!!!!

Mi date un sito dove è possibile seguire in real time la posizione della ISS? confermate inoltre 145.800 downlink e 145.200 uplink?

Il sito più gettonato è www.n2yo.com lo usava anche il sito di TGCOM24 quando tracciavano la ricaduta nell'atmosfera di GOCE.

Il downlink è sempre quello mentre l'uplink credo che sia 145.200 per i contatti tra OM e equipaggio a bordo, vale a dire che 145.200 non è l'uplink per esempio usato nei contatti programmati ARISS o per altri tipi di contatti non esclusivamente "ham".

Ho voluto sottolineare il credo perché non ho mai fatto quel tipo di collegamento e quindi non so con sicurezza.

Saturday 28 December, ARISS contact planned with Scout group in The Netherlands

An International Space Station educational radio contact has been planned Saturday 28 December with participants at Scouting Burgemeester Welschen Meerhove, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 13:08 UTC, which is 14.08 CEWT.

This will be a direct radio contact between IR0ISS and PE6SBW. The contact is expected to be conducted in English.

Downlink signals will be audible in Europe on 145.800MHz FM.

Anche se a rilento procede la fase di sperimentazione per il progetto HamTv, si prevede per gennaio/febbraio l'inizio dei test con la trasmissione continua da parte del modulo a bordo della ISS in banda S così che le stazioni a terra possano affinarsi e regolarsi al meglio per la ricezione.

Ham Video Commissioning

As announced August 21, 2013 the Ham Video transmitter is onboard the International Space Station and stored in the Columbus module.

September 10, 2013 we informed about the Experiment Sequences Test (EST) and the Simulations performed by the European Space Agency in collaboration with ARISS.

September 20, 2013 we announced the Ham Video Launch Campaign and described a simple station for Ham Video reception.

The Commissioning of the Ham Video transmitter needs to cover different configurations involving 2 antennas, 4 frequencies and 2 symbol rates. As announced earlier, the signals transmitted during the Commissioning steps will be received by the Matera ground station, located in south Italy (see HamTV Bulletin #2).

Moreover, during the Commissioning period, the Ham Video transmitter will transmit permanently for several days (weeks). This will allow ground stations to test their equipment and to provide useful information concerning the efficiency of the transmitter.
For these transmissions, no camera will be used. The so-called "blank" transmissions will nevertheless provide a complete DVB-S signal, as described hereafter.

We hoped that the Commissioning of the Ham Video transmitter would be planned October 2013. It appeared that the "Flight Rules" regarding ARISS activities, which cover VHF and UHF transmissions, needed to be updated for S-band. Writing Flight Rules and having them verified, accepted and signed by all parties involved is a process that takes time. ARISS matters have low priority among the countless activities that populate the International Space Station. Unforeseen events, such as the recent failing of a cooling system, evidently cause further delay.
Finally, the January - February 2014 time frame seems a reasonable guess for the Ham Video Commissioning.

Bene bene, riesumiamo questo post dato che è fermo da oltre un mese.

Buone notizie dal progetto HamTV, ieri è stato installata sul modulo Columbus tutta l'apparecchiatura e da domani si iniziano i test di trasmissione usando diverse antenne e settaggi per almeno una settimana con il call OR4ISS.

Ham Video now installed and ready for commissioning

The Ham Video transmitter has been installed in the Columbus module of the International Space Station March 6, 2014 at approximately 10.00 UTC.

The transmitter was powered on briefly and all control LEDs were nominal. Ham Video is declared ready for Commissioning.
The first Commissioning step is planned March 8, 2014. Using call sign OR4ISS, crew will power on the Ham Video transmitter in configuration 1:

- ARISS antenna 41
- Frequency 2.422 GHz
- Symbol rate 1.3 Ms/s

The transmission will start shortly before the pass of the ISS over Western Europe at approximately 13.27 UTC.

Acquisition of signal (AOS) at Matera ground station in south Italy will be at approximately 13.29 UTC.

Matera will receive the Ham Video signals with 3 different receivers. The output of each receiver will be web streamed over BATC channels ISS1, ISS2 and ISS3.

The ARISS ground station IK1SLD, located in Northern Italy, will also receive the Ham Video signals and stream the video over BATC channel ISS4.

The BATC server is available at http://www.batc.tv/

On BATC you can do the following:

- select ISS
- click on one of the ISS channels
- click on Multi screen selector
- select the channels you wish to watch
- click on Watch.

When multiscreen appears, volume is turned down by default. Turn the volume up using the volume control slider below the image.

During the pass, different configurations will be tested with ARISS antenna 41. After the pass, the Ham Video transmitter will stay powered on in configuration 1 (see above) till the following Commissioning step, which is planned Sunday March 9, 2014 at approximately 12.40 UTC.
For about 24 hours, the DATV signal will be transmitted permanently, but the camera will be powered off. The reason is, that the camera is battery powered and no provisions are made for frequent battery replacement. This mode is called "blank" transmission.

Sunday March 9, the transmission will start shortly before the pass of the ISS over Western Europe at approximately 12.39 UTC.
During Commissioning step 2, different configurations will again be tested, this time with ARISS antenna 43. The Matera ground station and IK1SLD will stream the video over the BATC server.

The plan is to resume blank transmission immediately after the pass over Matera and to continue permanent transmission for one week, till Sunday March 16, 2014. The frequency will remain 2.422 GHz, but antenna ARISS 43 will be used.

Reports on reception of blank transmissions are very welcome. Reports can be filed via this webpage:

C'e' qualcuno  che si sta dedicando all'ascolto della ISS in questi giorni?
Io ho iniziato da qualche giorno con l'aiuto del sito n2yo.com e riesco a beccare su 145.800 le trasmissioni dati (credo), 2-3 emissioni nel giro di un minuto quando la stazione e' nella posizione piu' vicina al mio QTH. Devo dire che le previsioni orarie dei passaggi  che da' il sito sono perfette,ci potrei regolare l'orologio...
Qualcuno ha idea invece quando si potra' sentire un po' di parlato?

73 a tutti, confermo che è parecchio che non si ascoltano in fonia a 145.800 mhz ma ho ascoltato l'avvicinamento per l'attracco di venerdì della Soyuz a 143.625 mhz e comunque si riceve sempre l'aprs a 145.825mhz...

Ciao a tutti, proprio ora che ho la patente e fremo per un collegamento in fonia con la ISS, è sceso Luca Parmitano troppo presto heheeheh.

Stasera alle 21 in vacanza in Sardegna ero sintonizzato sui 145.800 e sui 145.825 per captare le trasmissioni dati della ISS,senza peraltro troppo sperarci perche' passava sopra il nord italia e dunque ben lontano da me,quando ho sentito parlare in inglese e ho tentato di rispondere (abbastanza impacciato per la sorpresa). Ho fatto 2-3 brevi passaggi e ho capito solo che era un certo Frederick che nominava il vulcano Stromboli...
Poteva essere qualcuno che trasmetteva da li' sulle frequenze della ISS?
Tra l'altro non si presentava con un nominativo da radioamatore e diceva:" I am ready to meet you" (????)

Questa sera alle 19,21 mentre la ISS passava sulla Svizzera,sui 145.800 e sui 145.825 (su una della  2 frequenze ) dal mio QTH (Milano)ho sentito qualcuno parlare in inglese . Come si fa a capire se e' davvero la ISS?

Dovrebbero comunque dire il nominativo, oppure dovresti capire cosa dicono. Magari però poteva essere qualche radioamatore che faceva chiamata cercando di collegare la iss.

73 a tutti, è qualche giorno che non ascolto nulla e ho sentito dire che hanno spento gli apparati radioamatoriali (è già successo altre volte per dei lavori all'impianto elettrico) ma se l'orario coincide con il passaggio potrebbe essere che hanno riacceso le radio sempre che non sia qualcuno che parla in banda sat, purtroppo succede ogni tanto...

Ieri sera finalmente siamo andati (io e amici) a mettere la nostra barchetta, che soffriva di problemi elettrici al motore, nel lago d'iseo e in mezzo al lago con il buio perfetto ho visto per ben due volte ad occhio nudo la ISS passare, purtroppo non avevo una radio com me.

Ho approntato in stazione l'attrezzatura per collegare la ISS, uso un ft857 e un software su ubuntu che si chiama gpredict e mi corregge la frequenza per compensare l'effetto doppler. Si può fare anche con windows e orbitron, testato al 100%. L'antenna è una qfh che avevo costruito tempo fa su consiglio di r5000.

Ho fatto anche delle prove con windows e il programma UISS + orbitron per il collegamento APRS e funziona alla grande, quando la iss si avvicina il pc comanda la radio e trasmette la propria posizione, poi sul sito qriss.net si vede la conferma della ricezione del propri dati da parte della iss.

La mia domanda è questa, se è attivo l'APRS vuol comunque dire che non possono essere attivi in fonia?

Stamattina Ricevuta la ISS in collegamento con Ginevra, il segnale non era il massimo per ovvie ragioni ma era comunque comprensibile ;-).
